Independent Worker Terms (Self-employed Worker Agreement)

This agreement is between you, as an independent self-employed support worker, and Barileon Limited (Company No. 08496766), registered in England and Wales, registered office 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF. You accept it when you create a worker account.

Your status

You are self-employed. Nothing in this agreement creates employment, worker status, agency, partnership or a joint venture with Barileon. Barileon does not offer you work, set your hours, direct how you provide support, or supervise you. You may accept or decline any enquiry, work for others and set your own rates.

Tax and National Insurance

You are responsible for registering with HMRC as self-employed and paying your own Income Tax and National Insurance.

Services you may offer

You may offer only the non-regulated services listed on the platform. You must not provide or advertise personal care (washing, dressing, toileting), medication administration or any other activity regulated by the Care Quality Commission through Barileon Connect.

Checks and documents

Before your profile can be approved you must provide valid photo ID, evidence of your right to work in the UK, a DBS certificate and proof of public liability insurance. You must keep these up to date, tell us promptly about any change (including any new caution, conviction or investigation), and allow us to verify them. All workers meet the same requirements, whichever membership plan they choose.

Insurance requirement

You must hold and maintain public liability insurance appropriate to the services you offer (we suggest a minimum of £1 million cover, subject to professional advice) and upload a current certificate. If your insurance lapses your profile may be hidden until a renewed certificate is approved.

Conduct and safeguarding

You must act honestly, respect clients' privacy, dignity and property, never handle clients' bank cards or PINs, never accept gifts or loans of significant value, and report any safeguarding concern immediately. Barileon may suspend or remove your profile to protect people.

Membership

Creating a profile is free. Public search visibility and replying to enquiries require a paid membership under the Membership Terms. Membership is a fee for platform access only; it is not a commission on your earnings and does not guarantee enquiries, clients or income.

Ending this agreement

You can delete your account at any time. Barileon may end this agreement on notice, or immediately for serious breach or safeguarding reasons.
